Bain Capital plans to invest a billion euros in hotels in Spain by 2024

VozPópuli, relying on its own market sources, reported that by 2024, the American investment company Bain Capital plans to invest one billion euros in hotels in Spain. In the last 18 months alone, the fund has invested about 250 million in the sector. The funds were spent on the acquisition and reconstruction of various assets — about 800 rooms. Additional investments of EUR 280 million have already been planned, and investments totaling 500 million are included in the roadmap for the next year and a half.

Investment funds like Bain Capital invest in premium sector hotels or those that have the potential to become such. Usually this is real estate near the sea or ocean, in points with a developed and diverse infrastructure. Such assets are operated under brand new brands owned by the company.

In the next 18-24 months, the fund is going to carry out reconstruction and prepare all acquired assets for sale and operation. In the future, investors plan to sell these properties as part of a universal investment portfolio. This should happen within the next 4-5 years.

Among potential buyers, you can find funds such as Archer, owned by GIC (approx. Singaporean Sovereign Wealth Fund) and the Dutch pension fund APG. Other significant names include Schroders, a British asset management company, as well as Spanish investment company Azora.
