Two-thirds of the Spanish are willing to pay more for an eco-friendly home

According to a survey by Vía Célere 65% of Spaniards rate the sustainability of their homes as the top choice. The respondents states that they are ready to pay more if this money is converted into a healthier and more eco-friendly place of living.

Overall 41% of the respondents prioritize sustainability in the process of housing construction. 53% of the respondents view and value the importance of sustainable housing, although they do not put this criteria first. Only 6% do not care about ecology at all.

Buy-to-invest real estate — a good opportunity for the Spanish

The same survey by Vía Célere shows that more than half of Spanish people consider the current moment to be the best for investing in residential real estate. It is about 52% of all respondents specifically. A previous survey by the company showed that only 43% of the respondents considered investing in real estate a good initiative.

Returning to the matter of preferences, 61% of the Spanish have not changed their criteria for choosing a property since the pandemic start . The price for the offered unit remains the main criteria.

The next important criteria is the house location. 45% of the Spaniards prioritize this.

But there is a decline in interest by 17 points in relation to additional facilities, such as a terrace, a garden or a household plot. At the moment, only 39% of the Spanish consider these facilities as an important criteria when purchasing a new housing.

The importance of room size dropped from 24% to 20%. The need for good natural light is important for 36% of the respondents, having a garage is important for 24%, energy efficiency -for 23% and access to public spaces for only 10%.

The Spanish look for housing both in the city centers and in the suburbs

The survey showed that after the first and most difficult months of the pandemic, the Spanish began to actively look for housing on outskirts of cities. This attention to the suburbs only continues to grow, but not at the expense of attention to real estate in the center. The last point is connected with the return of many workers from remote work to permanent work in offices.

Attention to the central areas increased by 9%, to the suburbs - by 6%. On the other hand, the desire to move to the countryside or to small towns decreased among Spanish people.
