The pandemic motivated Spaniards to spend more on real estate repairs: 70% are willing to pay from 1,000 to 15,000 euros

Last year, 6 out of 10 families considered making changes to their property or repairing it.

Whether it is self-isolation or the transition to remote employment, Spaniards began to spend much more time in the walls of their home than before, which became a motivation to think about improving the comfort and quality of living.

These sentiments were reflected in the statistics, as 70% of respondents said they were ready to spend from 1,000 to 15,000 euros to upgrade their homes.

In an interview with La Sexta TV Channel, Judith Hernandez, CEO of Marketing at Kawe Home, gave a list of the most popular products at the moment.

A special rise in sales can be observed by categories: sofas, living room furniture, tables and chairs for dining areas and, most importantly, furniture for work.

Such data can be obtained from Internet sites such as Perstalo. The online portal reports that they have seen an increase in the number of search queries twice in 2021.

Kristoffer Hansen, CEO and co-founder of Perstala, said that last year they recorded an 80% increase in loan applications and 40% of repair work applications.

Lots of attention is paid to the adjacent areas: balconies, terraces, gardens.

The approach of the Spaniards to the conversion of real estate can be well understood from the story of Maria and her boyfriend. Both were transferred to remote employment and, after some time, decided to refit the kitchen and living room for their new needs. First of all, in order to make it easier to combine work schedule and personal life.

The couple decided to radically redevelop the issue by demolishing the entire wall in the kitchen area in order to expand the free space.
