Spain intends to become a key logistics center of Europe

In recent years, Spain has managed to strengthen its position as one of the most important logistics hubs in Europe. Experts of the Proequity company, engaged in consulting in the logistics sector, say that today Spain is an important transport center for the continent. The country has a developed infrastructure, an advantageous geographical location and constantly introduces innovations into the industry. All this will ensure the steady growth of this industry in the coming months, if not years.

Spain is well located at the intersection of transport links between Africa, Europe and Latin America. Excellent sea and air connections, as well as the ease of land travel from Spain to other EU countries allows the country to attract millions of visitors annually. It can be noted that according to available data, some of the busiest seaports of the continent are located on the Iberian Peninsula. Spain also has a developed system of railways that are used for the permanent transportation of goods across the eurozone.

The country is also supported by the desire for continuous technological improvement of all aspects of the logistics industry, including the introduction of modern technologies in the real estate market serving the needs of the sector. Both private companies and government agencies are spending copious amounts of money to invest in increasing efficiency and improving the stability of existing supply chains passing through Spain. We are talking about a variety of areas, from reverse logistics to warehouse automation. Artificial intelligence, blockchain and big data technologies are being introduced, and the Internet of Things is developing. Attention is paid not only to improving efficiency in raw numbers, but also to improving indicators such as workplace safety.

David Martinez, CEO of Proequity, claims that the logistics industry in Spain has undergone significant changes in the last few years, successfully adapted to the changes caused by both the pandemic and the current economic instability. Quarter by quarter, this market attracts more and more international investors and companies. Nevertheless, Proequity experts remind investors of the need to remain cautious in the current conditions. Martinez points out: "Despite the good performance of the sector, the current situation in the global economy and the international sphere, inflation, may slow down the development of the sector and the pace of creation of new projects".
