The real estate industry in Spain predicts an increase in the cost of construction by 8%

The real estate industry predicts an increase in the cost of construction by 8% next year and not only due to an increase in the price of building materials caused by a shortage of raw materials, but also due to an increase in the cost of labor.

This is the opinion of the majority of respondents in «Diagnostic report on construction in the third quarter of 2021», prepared by General Council of Technical Architecture of Spain (CGATE) and Royal Institute of Chartered Appraisers (RICS). The lack of workers is the main brake on activity.

According to the report by Association of Rental Property Owners (ASVAL) and Madrid Real Estate Exhibition (SIMA), construction accounts for 26.3% of the total waste generated in the Spanish economy, which is second only to industry, which includes mining and energy production.

In 2019, the Spanish economy produced a total of 133.2 million tons of waste, which is 3.3% less than in 2021.

42.4% was sent for recycling, which is 3.9% more year-on-year and 19% more than in 2015.

The most significant categories of waste generated are mineral waste (67 million tons), mixed waste (37.5 million tons) and waste of animal and vegetable origin (9.2 million tons).
