There is a special place in Catalonia that attracts a lot of attention from buyers from all over the world. It is unique, picturesque, but above all it is in the spotlight of the upper class of European society, which means it is prestigious. We are talking about the resort town of Empuriabrava in Catalonia. This area is especially popular with the French and Germans, who highly appreciate the local coastal real estate with a wide variety of berths for various kinds of sea transport. The average price for objects in this region fluctuates at the level of EUR 1 million.
Empuriabrava is located in the municipality of Castellon de Ampurias, Alt-Emporda district, Girona province. The city enjoys a convenient location in the Gulf of Rosas, and its land borders rest on the Emporda marshes, which are a large natural park. Empuriabrava is one of the largest yacht ports in Europe. The length of local shipping channels is 24 kilometers, and the number of private berths has already reached 5,000.
Ismael Majuti, commercial director of Homecentre real estate agency, describes Espuriabrava as follows: «Of course, there are other areas outside Spain that provide both similar real estate and lifestyle. You can specify, for example, Venezuela, Venice or Miami. However, the opportunity to have a berth and your own boat or yacht literally in the backyard is not so common. The city is also designed taking into account the surrounding space in order to preserve the local terrain and nature».
According to Alexandra Paris, manager of the Paris House real estate agency, reports that on average prices for local real estate range from EUR 600,000 to 1,000,000.
Majuti points out that prices fluctuate mainly on the purpose of the building. In general, they can be divided into two types: elite houses with berths for large vessels, such as yachts, and traditional fishing houses, which are designed more for utilitarian use. Mooring on the latter is quite small, while elite berths have a span of up to 30 meters.
The Head of Homecentre adds that in the area you can find a house with a pier, for example, for EUR 400,000, but this is the exception rather than the rule. The average prices for the current offer are at the level of one million euros. In the case of future arrivals to the market, then you should not expect offers cheaper than EUR 4-5 million.
