Sales and purchases of companies in Spain fell by 9% in 2022

A total of 2,512 transactions totaling 99,825 million euros were registered in the Spanish transaction market until November, according to a monthly report by TTR in collaboration with Intralinks. These figures represent a decrease in the number of transactions by 8% compared to the same period in 2021, as well as a decrease in attracted capital by 9%.

By industry, the most active sector last year was real estate, where 577 transactions were made, which is 28% more than in the same period of 2021, followed by the Internet, software and IT services - 305 transactions and a decrease of 9%.

As for the cross-border market, until November 2022, Spanish companies have chosen the United States and Portugal as the main areas for investment, concluding 46 deals in each country. On the other hand, the US and the UK, with 188 and 162 transactions respectively, are the countries with the most investments in Spain.

Until November, a total of 320 transactions with private capital in the amount of 39,520 million euros were registered, which is 10% more than the number of transactions and 37% more than the amount of transactions compared to the same period of the previous year.

556 transactions totaling 5,122 million euros were conducted in the venture capital segment, which is 14% less than the number of transactions and 30% less than the amount of transactions for the year.

In the Asset Acquisition segment, 732 transactions worth EUR 15,624 million were registered in the year to November, which represents an increase in the number of transactions by 3% and an increase in the amount of transactions by 26% compared to last year.
