Palma is fifth most expensive provincial capital for renting apartments in Spain

The cost of a dorm room in Palma is 390.71 euros per month, which makes the city the fifth most expensive provincial capital of Spain, according to a study by Pisos.

The real estate portal reports that the average rent in the country decreased by 0.60% in 2021 compared to 2020, or rather from 270.79 euros to 270.49 euros per month.

In addition, it was noted that the outbreak of the pandemic forced many students to leave their dormitories and return to their parents' home, which also had an impact on the housing market.

Thus, distance learning has led to the fact that other tenants, for example, families, began to rent housing in some of these properties.

As for the amenities in the hostel, the following figures are presented here:

  • In 2020, 49.64% reported that they have a washing machine, 35.42% — a TV and 2.40% — a telephone.
  • In 2021, 75.94% of offers have a washing machine, 60.78% — a TV and 2.92% — a telephone.
  • Internet availability increased from 44.91% in 2020 to 69.65% this year.
  • Furnished rooms make up 95.69% of the survey, and 57.23% of the rooms have heating.
  • In addition, when searching for flatmates, 77.78% of published ads do not indicate gender preferences.
