Murcia real estate market in full recovery mode

Home sales increased by 7.7% in the Murcia region in the second quarter of 2021, according to the Spanish Association of Registrars.

Out of 4,834 transactions completed during this period, 3,929 were for existing homes. However, there was also a substantial increase in sales of new properties, up by 15.9% sequentially. Murcia was the only region in Spain to see new home sales increase.

In addition, the number of transactions for the purchase of small-sized homes increased in the period from April to June:

  • Homes under 40 square meters (+0.67%).
  • Homes with an area of 40 to 60 square meters (+0.19%).

Meanwhile, the number of transactions with homes with an area 60 to 80 square meters and properties over 80 square meters decreased by 0.06% and 0.8%, respectively.

Also, 2.49% of total purchases were for homes with an area of 60 to 80 square meters, and 11.23% were for properties with an area of 40 to 60 square meters, the Association of Registrars reported.

In terms of prices, both new and old housing rose by 3.1% this quarter, bringing the square meter price to 1,042 euros.
